Without the visionary leadership of Lou Stitzel, Neighbor to Neighbor would not exist. Almost 50 years ago, Lou heard about a family in jeopardy of losing their home in the Alta Vista neighborhood, and wanted to help them. She rallied her friends and fellow members of the Trinity Lutheran Church and together, they saved the family from losing their home. From there, Lou set up an office in her own home (pictured) and began shaping N2N into what it is today.
Those that knew Lou, still talk about her incredible tenacity, her ability to get the right people together to make an enormous difference in our community, and how she was always working towards finding solutions to housing challenges. Today we strive to honor Lou’s spirit when facing our challenging housing market with creative, effective solutions and care for our neighbors.
